“It was really exciting to review the DECA data and see how much growth our students made this year!” – Norah, a teacher at Adlai Stevenson Elementary School
Our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program helps young children develop social skills that are foundational to long-term academic and social success. Through our SEL program, teachers, families, and students work together to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
The program incorporates education and social work services to promote social emotional development and resiliency; providing consultation services, modeling and demonstration, coaching and supporting materials for teachers and their students, and parents.
- We train teachers to assess social emotional development, address significant behavioral concerns, and create a classroom that promotes positive social emotional learning.
- We partner with families through our family engagement activities and ongoing collaboration with goals of building strong parent-child, teacher-child, and teacher-parent relationships.
- We work with children to enhance resiliency skills to effectively navigate the social environment.
