Boland family to be celebrated for its generations of giving to the community

The Boland family will be honored by Achievement Centers for Children (ACC) with its Champions for Achievers award at the agency’s signature fundraising event Sparkle: Bourbon & Blues on May 4, 2024 at the InterContinental Cleveland.

The award recognizes the Boland family’s generous support of ACC’s mission to empower children and adults with disabilities to achieve their greatest potential, as well as the family’s dedication to the broader Northeast Ohio nonprofit community.

“Throughout three generations within the Boland family, they have not only given extraordinary amounts of time, talent, and treasure to ACC for decades, but they have touched many non-profits and community organizations throughout Northeast Ohio,” said Bernadette Kerrigan, President & CEO of ACC. “This has resulted in the Bolands positively impacting thousands of lives, with many being children and adults with disabilities and their families. The Boland family traditions are built on a foundation of caring for, and giving back to, others in need.”

The family’s support of ACC dates back to 2000 when Jim Boland served as Honorary Chair of ACC’s 60th Anniversary Ball, the predecessor to Sparkle. Daughter Julie served on ACC’s Board of Directors from 2010 to 2018, and as Board Chair from 2015 to 2017. Son Jimmy has served on ACC’s Board since 2016 and as Board Chair since September 2023. Multiple generations of family members have been generous donors and have volunteered with our Adapted Sports and Therapeutic Horsemanship programs over the years.

“This honor is especially meaningful as Achievement Centers for Children’s incredible mission has been one that has united our family and allowed us to honor the giving legacy of my immigrant parents. The volunteer opportunities my children and grandchildren have had at ACC have been foundational family experiences, enabling a powerful learning and empathy that are unique to the agency. We are proud to accept the award and look forward to celebrating with our family and friends,” said Jim Boland.

The presentation of the Champions for Achievers honor will be the focus of the evening’s program at Sparkle: Bourbon & Blues. Interested in celebrating the Boland family with us?
