Iconic run/walk fundraiser supports Achievement Centers for Children's recreation programs for children and adults with disabilities
One of the longest-running walk/run fundraisers in Northeast Ohio returns to Camp Cheerful in Strongsville on June 25th. A Most Excellent Race is marking its 33rd year of raising funds for Achievement Centers for Children’s recreation programs for children and adults with disabilities.
Participants can choose to walk or run a 10k, 5k, or 1 mile course – in person or virtually – or simply make a donation. The discounted registration rate of $30 is available until June 19th for the in-person race, after which the cost goes to $35 (as it will be day-of). The virtual race registration cost is $35 (to cover the cost of shipping the t-shirt) and virtual participants can run anytime between now and June 25th. All participants can register here: www.AchievementCenters.org/Race.
After registering for the Race, runners and walkers have the option to create a fundraising page that they can share with family, friends, and colleagues to invite them to support their efforts. Participants are also encouraged to spread the word about the Race on their social media pages using the hashtag #ACCRace.
A Most Excellent Race is a chip-timed, fast course with some hills that covers Camp Cheerful’s 52-acre campus and extends through other parts of the Cleveland Metroparks’ Mill Stream Run Reservation. Day-of registration runs from 7:30am to 9am, with a 9am start time. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners, as well as to the 13-17 age group and the 12-and-Under group.
The event will include dozens of current and former participants of Achievement Centers for Children (ACC) programs – including Therapy, Adapted Sports, and River Rock Adult Day Program – some of whom have participated for decades.
Sponsors, with Division Sponsors KeyBank, Ulmer & Berne LLP, and Wells Fargo leading the way, are helping ensure this year’s Race is a success. Prospective sponsors can learn more about supporting the event HERE.
