29th Annual ‘A Most Excellent Race’ on Sunday, June 23, 2019

A Most Excellent Race, presented by Wells Fargo, benefits the Achievement Centers for Children Camp Cheerful where each year hundreds of children and adults of all abilities “take a vacation from their disability.” They experience all that camp offers, including swimming, fishing, sports, arts & crafts, horsemanship activities, and singing around the campfire with s’mores – all in a safe, nurturing environment. The Race is generously sponsored by CoverMyMeds, KeyBank, Oatey, A.M. Higley Company, Corcoran Tile & Marble, and Wild Republic, among others.

Campers from Camp Cheerful will kick off the event at Beaumont School in Cleveland Heights at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 23rd on their own “Camp Cheerful Classic” – a spirited short-distance race. At 9 a.m., runners and walkers will start one of four races: – a 10K run on a scenic and fast course through Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights; or a 5K run, 5K walk or 1-mile walk through a historic Cleveland Heights neighborhood. The competitive runs are managed and timed by Hermes Sports and Events and are part of the Hermes Road Race Series 2019. There will be awards for top male and female race finishers in each age division, family activities, and refreshments. Fun family activities and refreshments will contribute to the festivities and include Flower Clown, the Little Penguin frozen yogurt truck, Cleveland Yoga, a bounce house, face painting, a DJ and more. Participants may pre-register online for A Most Excellent Race for a reduced entry fee of $30 before June 19th, or register on-site prior to the race from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for $35. Entry fee includes snacks, refreshments, and race t-shirt.
