Recreation Programs for Children and Adults with Disabilities

For more than 60 years, the Achievement Centers for Children has recognized the importance of recreation for children and adults with a variety of disabilities.

We are a leader in developing outdoor summer experiences which encourage both children and adults to develop their confidence, independence, and self-esteem while having a wonderful summer!  All of our programs encourage inclusion by inviting children with and without disabilities to join in the fun.

The Achievement Centers' Recreation programs include:

• Adapted Aquatics
• Champ Camp (Highland Hills and Westlake day camp program)
• Cheerful Day Camp (Camp Cheerful day camp program)
• Sensational Day Camp (for children with Autism, held at Camp Cheerful)
• Residential Camp
• Weekend Respite Camp
• Therapeutic Horseback Riding

The Achievement Centers for Children’s recreational programs, including Camp Cheerful and Champ Camp, boast a diverse professional staff led by a Director of Recreational Services who has a M.B.A. and over 12 years of experience supervising recreational programs for children with special needs.

Camp Cheerful is one of the only camps in Ohio with a master’s level Licensed Independent Social Worker who also has 10 years experience working in a camp setting.
