Achieve Consulting: Autism Consultation and Training Services
The Achievement Centers for Children is pleased to launch Achieve Consulting, offering educational consultating services ranging from individual student programming through full program development. This service is available to schools and agencies.
All services can be customized to meet the needs of the child and the teacher. We work in collaboration with the school district, school and classroom to provide the best supports to address the complexities of the school and classroom environment for children with autism and other special needs.
Consultation for Specific Areas of Assistance
We can help you on a project basis with specific needs like observational assesments for an individual child, a behavioral management plan, classroom environment recommendations, social skills interactions and more.
- Classroom observation of an individual student
- Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), development and implementation of a Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) for a student
- Environmental and curriculum modifications
- Social skills curriculum and strategies
Ongoing Program Development & Consultation
This consultation service is focused on assisting in the design and implementation of a blended-method autism program for Pre-K through high school children with autism. This model will incorporate evidence-based methods such as:
- Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH)
- Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
- Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)
- Developmental-Individual-Relationship (DIR Floortime)
- Positive Behavior Supports (PBS)
- Sensory Integration
- Development and implementation of Positive Behavior Supports for students with Autism, Cognitive Disabilities, Emotional Behavior Disability or Mulit-Handicapped
Educational Workshop or Series
Topics are teacher driven and can include behavioral issues, sensory challenges, social difficulties and strategies to implement within school settings. This training can serve to educate paraprofessionals working in public school districts with students Pre-K - high school who are diagnosed with autism.
Achieve Consulting offers the following training opportunities yearly at the Achievement Centers' Breen Family Center in Highland Hills, Ohio. These trainings can also be provided offsite upon request:
- Planning a Comprehensive Blended-Method Classroom: Program for students with autism, ages Pre-K through high school (5 DAY TRAINING)
- Hands-On Positive Behavior Support: Current evidence-based practice for managing the behavior of students with special needs (2 DAY TRAINING)
- Working With Students with High-Functioning Autism & Asperger's in a School Setting (2 DAY TRAINING)
- Paraprofessional Training: Working with students with autism ages Pre-K through Grade 5 (3 DAY TRAINING)
Achieve Consulting Autism Specialists
Consultants with Achieve Consulting hold master’s degrees in Education/Special Education with experience teaching and providing consultation in specialized educational programs for children with autism.
Each consultant has extensive experience facilitating trainings at the local and state level.
Mary Beth Koss, Manager of Achieve Consulting, brings over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience in both public and private early education programs as well as at the university level as a college instructor.
Mary Beth was previously the Manager of the Education department at the Achievement Centers for Children for 10 years. She developed and managed both the Autism Early Intervention Home Based Program and the Autism Preschool and K-2 program that uses a comprehensive blended method approach.
Mary Beth was a member of the initial Autism State Task Force, Autism Leadership Council of Cuyahoga County, and the Co-Chair of the Autism Ad Hoc Committee for Help Me Grow Cuyahoga County.
Kalee Miller-Jones
Kalee N. Miller-Jones is an Educational Consultant, PBIS Coach and national SWIS Facilitator with Achieve Consulting. Kalee has facilitated and coached teams through the Comprehensive Program Planning Process as well as the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. She brings over 12 years of classroom experience as an Intervention Specialist working with middle and high school aged students. Kalee has taught and managed the programming of students diagnosed with Severe Emotional Disorders (SED), Cognitive Disabilities (CD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger Syndrome (AS), Schizophrenia, Down ’s Syndrome, Mental Retardation, Fragile X Syndrome, and Bi-Polar disorder. Kalee also served as a district mentor and a Lead Teacher. Kalee is nationally trained in Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and has completed postgraduate coursework for Education Administration licensure. With a background in Education Administration, Kalee offers support on a classroom, building and district wide level to help enhance the capacity of schools to adopt and sustain the use of effective practices for all students.
Kristin Staudt
Kristin Staudt, Educational Consultant with Achieve Consulting, brings over 9 years of classroom experience as an Intervention Specialist working with elementary aged students with multiple disabilities that included, but were not limited to, Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), ADD/ADHD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Down’s syndrome, Angelman Syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome. Kristin implemented a multi-method classroom design in order to effectively address the educational, emotional, social and behavioral needs of her students. Kristin served as a member of the Response to Intervention (RTI) team, the Intervention Assistance Team (IAT), and as a Mentor Teacher during her tenure in the public school system.
